The following identifies critical dates applicable to the state legislative and budget calendar. Also included is information on web sites that individuals can use to access specific information on bills and forthcoming hearings.

2016 Legislative and State Budget Calendar:

May 27: Last day for fiscal committees to hear and report to the Floor bills introduced in their house.

June 3: Last day to pass bills out of the house of origin.

June 15: Budget Bill must be passed by midnight.

June 30: Deadline for a legislative measure to qualify for the November 8 General Election ballot.

July 1: Last day for policy committees to meet and report bills.

July 1: Summer Recess begins upon adjournment.

August 1: Legislature reconvenes from Summer Recess.

August 12: Last day for fiscal committees to meet and report bills to the Floor.

August 15-31: Floor Session only. No committees may meet.

August 16: Last day to amend bills on the Floor.

August 31: Last day for each house to pass bills.

August 31: Final Recess.

Sept. 31: Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills.


January 10, 2017: Governor introduces proposed state budget for 2017-18.
